Ron Gibson

Ron Gibson '74 is a seasoned business leader and dedicated community advocate. A first-generation college graduate, Ron led the family-owned Gibson Oil & Gas for over 40 years before shifting his focus to local entrepreneurship. He owns Jersey Mike's franchises in Pembroke and Laurinburg.
Ron's wife, Carole Gibson, recently retired as head of the nursing program at Richmond Community College. She taught briefly in UNCP's nursing program early in her career, underscoring her long-standing commitment to healthcare education and the university community.
As an active civic contributor, Ron has offered decades of volunteer leadership to the Scotland Memorial Foundation, Scotland County Chamber of Commerce, First Bank, Clebe McClary Board, Laurel Hill Fire Department and Scotia Village Board. Beyond business, he pursues his passion for aviation as a commercial pilot and has been a dedicated Angel Flight volunteer since 1993, flying cancer patients to treatment nationwide.
A former vice chair of the UNCP Foundation Board, Ron brings deep institutional insight and commitment to his role as a trustee. Now semi-retired, he and Carole continue supporting the university's mission, its students, and leadership under Chancellor Cummings.
