Dr. Corey Pomykacz is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. She holds a B.A. in Sociology from the University of Central Florida and earned both her M.A. in Applied Sociology and Ph.D. in Sociology from Central Florida with a specialization in crime and deviance.

Dr. Pomykacz currently serves as the Substance Abuse Minor Coordinator. Her teaching portfolio includes courses such as Social Statistics, Sociology of Drug Use, Substance Abuse Prevention, Criminology, Introduction to Criminal Justice, Social Deviance, Social Problems in Modern Society and Introduction to Sociology.

Her research focuses on substance use among adolescents and young adults, particularly non-medical use of prescription drugs. She has co-authored several peer-reviewed articles examining motivations for use, sources of drug acquisition and the relationship between substance use, academic achievement, criminal behavior and health outcomes.
