Jina Yang, PhD, NCC is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Counseling. She earned her master’s degree in Counseling with a concentration in School Counseling and her doctoral degree in Counseling and Supervision. Her scholarly work centers on counselor preparation, particularly the development and evaluation of counselor professional dispositions, as well as remediation and gatekeeping practices in counselor education. Drawing on her professional experience as a school counselor and her ongoing scholarship, she also examines strategies for enhancing counselors’ competence in working with culturally and linguistically diverse clients through culturally affirming, strengths-based approaches.
