Dr. Josiah Marineau is an Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. He teaches international relations and comparative politics, including African Politics, American Foreign Policy, Theories of International Relations, Model United Nations, Model Arab League and Introduction to Political Science.
His research focuses on foreign aid in Africa, terrorism and the relationship between the South Caucasus and Russia. He has conducted fieldwork in countries including Tanzania, Burundi, Uganda, Malawi and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. He has also traveled to Georgia to interview Russians who fled after the start of the Russo-Ukrainian war.
His current research explores the impact of the Russo-Ukrainian war on Russian soft power, the politics of the South Caucasus and the influence of Russian emigres on Georgian politics.
