ABOUT
Kelly Charlton, PhD, is Professor and Chair of UNCP Psychology. She has been with the university since August of 2000.
Dr. Charlton earned her Master’s degree from California State University Stanislaus and her PhD from the University of Missouri. Dr. Charlton regularly mentors undergraduate research assistants — many of whom have continued on to graduate school. Most recently, this work focuses on helping behavior, predicting belief in pseudoscience, social support from animal companionship and the consequences of revealing personal information during a job interview.
Dr. Charlton currently teaches Career and Professional Perspectives in Psychology, Social Psychology, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Psychology and Law and Introduction to Psychology. In her spare time, one of Dr. Charlton's hobbies is lampwork — the art of melting glass into beads and other small items.
