Award-Winning Hollywood Actor Keith David to Highlight GPAC Season

Keith David, a Hollywood actor and talented jazz singer, will perform at GPAC on November 22, 2025

Keith David is known for his many acting credits in movies and TV shows, but he’s also a talented jazz singer, and he is performing Nov. 22 at 7:30 p.m. as part of the 2025-2026 season at the Givens Performing Arts Center (GPAC) at UNC Pembroke.

Tickets range from $20 to $29 for adults, with children’s tickets available for $10.

Keith David is an American actor, known for his deep voice and screen presence in over 300 roles across film, stage, television and interactive media. In addition to many other film and television roles, he starred from 2016 to 2020 as Bishop James Greenleaf in the Oprah Winfrey drama Greenleaf. His Emmy-winning voice-over career includes work as the narrator of Ken Burns films such as “The War” (2007) and “Muhammad Ali” (2021).

Born and raised in New York City, Keith David is a classically trained graduate of the New York High School of Performing Arts and The Juilliard School. Many know Keith from his work as an award-winning actor, but many may not know music is his first love, and he performs jazz all over the country. Combined with his talent as an actor, Keith’s work as a musician earned him a Tony Award nomination for his role as Chimney Man in “Jelly’s Last Jam.” He has also portrayed legendary Nat King Cole in the Broadway tour of “Too Marvelous for Words.”

His debut jazz studio album is scheduled for release later this fall. The first single from the album, “Old Devil Moon,” was released in July 2025. 

Keith is the voice behind “Friends on the Other Side,” one of the most popular songs in Disney’s expansive catalog, and he performed as Dr. Facilier in “The Princess and the Frog.” Other notable film roles include “Platoon,” “Mufasa: The Lion King,” “Men at Work,” “Coraline” and “There’s Something About Mary.”
