UNCP Police & Public Safety will test the university’s emergency alert systems on Friday, June 20, at 9 a.m.

This will ONLY BE A TEST. NO ACTION is required.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • The campus emergency siren will activate, sounding a 24-second tone followed by a test message.
  • A BraveAlert notification (text, email and phone call) will be sent to all registered users.
  • A LiveSafe notification will also be issued.

UNC Pembroke regularly tests its BraveAlert emergency notification system to ensure functionality and help the campus community stay familiar with how alerts are delivered. These routine tests are coordinated by University Police, Emergency Management and University Communications and Marketing as part of UNCP’s commitment to campus safety.

During scheduled testing, you may receive multiple types of alerts, and the campus siren system may sound more than once. These are only tests — no action is required from the campus or surrounding community.

How BraveAlert Communicates During an Emergency

Depending on the nature of the situation, UNCP may use some or all of the following tools to communicate:

  • Text messages (SMS)

  • University email

  • LiveSafe app notifications

  • Digital signage across campus

  • Outdoor siren system (for immediate, widespread alerts)

  • UNCP’s official social media accounts

  • uncp.edu/emergency for real-time updates

Stay Informed

All current UNCP students, faculty and staff are automatically enrolled in BraveAlert via their university email address. To receive mobile alerts, make sure your phone number is up to date in BraveWeb and that you’ve downloaded the LiveSafe app.

During an emergency, always rely on official university channels for accurate, up-to-date information.

For questions about the emergency notification system, please contact UNCP Police & Public Safety at 910.521.6235 and by email at campus.police@uncp.edu.
