Trent Harris Becomes Second Brave In Three Years To Make MLB Debut

Former Brave Trent Harris is set to become the second UNC Pembroke baseball player in the last three years to reach the Major Leagues after his contract was selected by the San Francisco Giants on Friday.

Harris is scheduled to join the San Francisco bullpen as the Giants host the Detroit Tigers for a three-game series.

The Raleigh native, former Richmond Squirrel and No. 24-ranked prospect in the Giants organization put together a strong summer for the AAA Sacramento River Cats, allowing just three earned runs across 24.2 innings in June and July, while striking out 33 and holding opponents to a .170 batting average.

Harris made an impact in multiple ways during his two years with the Black & Gold, logging an 8-4 record, two saves, and a 3.67 ERA over 23 appearances on the mound, while compiling a .299 career batting average with 23 extra-base hits and 58 RBI. 

Harris will become the 44th Division II player to play in the MLB this season, as well as becoming the 25th active Division II player, while also joining River Ryan as the second Brave to play in the MLB.
