Title IX Office
UNC Pembroke’s Title IX Office is committed to fostering a safe, inclusive and respectful environment for all members of our campus community. We work to prevent and address gender-based discrimination, harassment and sexual misconduct, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations. Our office provides resources, support and guidance to those impacted, while promoting education and awareness to uphold the rights and well-being of every Brave.
Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972
Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (20 U.S.C. §1681 et seq.) is a federal
civil rights law that prohibits discrimination based on sex in education programs
and activities. This law applies to all public and private elementary and secondary
schools, school districts, colleges and universities that receive federal funding.
Discrimination under Title IX includes sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating and
domestic violence and stalking.

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, as amended, prohibits discrimination
on the basis of sex in any federally funded education program or activity. As such,
Title IX mandates that no person shall be excluded from participation in or discriminated
against on the basis of sex in programs or activities at educational institutions
that receive federal financial assistance.
All members of the university community are expected to engage in conduct that contributes
to the culture of integrity and honor we strive to maintain. Acts of sexual misconduct,
sexual harassment, dating violence, domestic violence and stalking jeopardize the
health and welfare of our campus community.
