BS in Science Education

The Science Education program brings together the strengths of multiple departments. Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Geology. You’ll benefit from a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach. Work with expert faculty from across departments. Choose a concentration that fits your interests and career goals, but gain expertise across disciplines. All programs include student teaching and lead to licensure in North Carolina.

Teach high school students how living things grow, change and interact. This program includes courses in genetics, ecology, cell biology and evolution. Plus chemistry, physics and geology courses to round out your science background. You’ll also learn how to teach and manage a classroom before completing a full-time internship.

Help younger students discover how science shapes the world. You’ll take a wide range of courses in biology, chemistry, physics, geology and environmental science. You’ll also learn how to teach science in ways that are hands-on and easy to understand. Then apply your skills during your student-teaching internship. Degree Checklist

You’ll also complete an academic or professional concentration. Choosing your concentration early will help you stay on track to graduate. We recommend working with your concentration's department chair and the undergraduate science education coordinator to find the best fit. The number of credits you’ll need depends on the concentration you choose. In some cases, courses may count toward both your major and concentration.
