Club Sports

UNCP Club Sports aim to provide students with an exceptional opportunity to develop lifelong skills in a supportive team environment.

Joining a Club Team

Every member of a sport club at UNCP is required to pay dues. The amount of dues for each club is set by the officers of each club. It is based upon equipment, travel costs, facility needs and league/tournament fees.

Every participant in the sport club program is required to read and fully understand, and sign a participation waiver. This waiver must be filled out completely on BraveConnect.

UNCP Campus Recreation strongly recommends that each participant schedule an annual physical since there is injury risks in sport activities.

All individuals in sport clubs must certify that they have a health insurance policy. Members will be responsible for paying any and all deductibles for any sickness or injuries that occur from participation in sport clubs. UNCP is not held responsible for the payment of any medical bills related to an accident/injury during any sport club activity.

All members of a sport club will sign a conduct agreement at the beginning of their season. Members are expected to act in a mature and responsible manner on and off campus in all sport club related activities. Each member represents UNCP and is expected to be a credit to UNCP Sport Club Program and follow all rules and regulations of UNCP.

FAQ's

Intramural Sports are short-term, recreational activities that take place at UNCP and only involve participants from UNCP. Sport Clubs are University recognized student organizations that are student-run and student-funded. Typically, these are year-round clubs that compete in intercollegiate competitions on a local, regional, and national scale.

You can join an intramural sport in one of three ways:

  1. Create a Team – Become a Team Captain
The easiest way to get involved is to form a team on your own: You, a few of your friends, roommates, neighbors, etc. Student organizations such as fraternities and sororities, as well as other campus groups often put together teams as well. Ask at your organization’s next group meeting. The key is to register early! To find out when that is for each sport, check our schedule.
  2. Join a Team
Another easy way to get involved is to join a team that is already created. This could be a group of friends, roommates, suitemates, or members in various student organizations, etc. Occasionally, there may be teams that don’t have a full roster and may indicate they are “Looking for Players”; you can request to join their team as well.
  3. Become a Free Agent
If you are still looking for a team, you can list yourself as a free agent for any particular sport. You will be visible to all members of the site and can request to join teams or post information about yourself so teams can request to add you to their team. The Campus Recreation staff will add all free agents to teams that are not completely full or create a team specifically for all free agents.

Any interested in club sports should contact the team representative found on IMLeagues regarding any specific information regarding tryouts or practices.

Intramural Management will contact team captains prior to any games canceled in advance. Otherwise, decisions will be made at the venue by Intramural staff.  We will play rain and shine, unless deemed unsafe playing conditions.
