Community Health and Wellness Institute
The Community Health and Wellness Institute at UNCP works to improve health in southeastern
North Carolina. We focus on bettering lives through diverse healthcare training, team-based
care and community partnerships. Our efforts include education, research and community
support.
Community Health and Wellness Institute
I applaud UNC Pembroke for taking the lead and bringing people together to talk about
important issues that impact our communities and rural communities across the state.
It is important for people who work in this space to hear what other folks are doing
and to learn from each other, as well as to see how students can be involved in that
process and how program implementation works.

Boosting Maternal & Infant Health
Healthy Start Connection is funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
We work to improve maternal and infant health in Robeson County. Our program offers
case management and health education to reduce infant deaths and low birth weight.
We aim to support families and strengthen community health.
Healthy Start Connection
We aim to reduce infant mortality and improve birth outcomes by supporting families
where they are. This work matters because every parent deserves to feel confident
and supported on their journey, and every child deserves a healthy start.
