Our Mission

The mission of the College of Health Sciences is to educate students in a supportive and collaborative academic environment that provides innovative, interdisciplinary and culturally responsive opportunities through rigorous education, meaningful service and transformational scholarship to improve health and wellness outcomes and the quality of life for individuals, families  and communities that the graduates will engage and serve.

Therefore, the college recognizes that the education of health professions students through the critical thinking process is our highest priority. CHS is dedicated to a learner-centered approach by integrating classroom activities, service-learning approaches, increased research and scholarship endeavors and practical experiences in professional settings. We are committed to lifelong learning and to conducting interdisciplinary education, research and scholarly activities asa means of contributing to the body of knowledge in the health professions. The CHS mission reflects and supports the larger mission of the University of North Carolina at Pembroke.
