Congratulations on your acceptance to UNC Pembroke! We're thrilled to welcome you to BraveNation and invite you to New Student Orientation (NSO), a UNCP orientation program designed to kick off your Brave Experience with everything you need. 

NSO is more than an event — it's your gateway to campus life, academic resources and endless opportunities to connect with others and make lasting memories. Once you register for NSO, you'll be pre-registered for the courses most essential to your major.

Before You Register

If you haven’t set up your BraveWeb account, now is the time!  Set up your official BraveWeb account using the secret code from your acceptance letter. You'll also need your Student ID (Banner ID) in your decision letter. Your Banner ID is essential for registering for new student orientation. Through BraveWeb, you'll access BraveMail, Banner Self-Service (for registration, records and financial aid), student insurance, meal plans and the Online Account Center. Note: All orientation reservations are under the student’s name and Banner ID number. 


Orientation Fee Details:

  • A $225 orientation fee will be added to your student account if you are a freshman. Financial aid may cover this if funds are available.

How to Register Online

  1. Log into your MyUNCP account. 
  2. Select the "Events" link and select the orientation date that works with your schedule. 
  3. Follow the instructions and register for on-campus orientation.
  4. Please ensure you submit your registration.

Please note: You can only change your orientation date once (if the session you want to move into is open). To change your date, please email orientation@uncp.edu.

Orientation Schedule

Summer Orientation Dates — these dates are for students starting in Fall, 2025. 

  • Monday, July 28, 2025: 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Givens Performing Arts Center (Students may choose to stay on campus the night before their orientation.)
  • Wednesday, August 13, 2025: 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Givens Performing Arts Center (No overnight stay option. Students attending will be allowed to move into their assigned residence hall.)

Orientation Preparation

During your college orientation for freshmen, you can interact with current student leaders and meet your academic advisor. Sessions are limited to 100 students. Students can bring up to two guests with the required guest fees ($60 per guest). If you have additional questions or concerns, please contact us at orientation@uncp.edu or 910.521.6243.

What To Bring to Orientation

Items to bring for your on-campus orientation: 

  • Casual, comfortable clothing and walking shoes
  • Immunization records, if needed
    Government-Issued ID (Needed to get your UNCP ID)
  • College and/or High School transcripts if not submitted to Admissions (Note: If you attended an Early College, transcripts must come from the High School and College.)
  • Pen and something to write notes on

Taking a Math Placement Test

To begin your education at UNCP, you participate in taking the Math Placement Test. This test is not for a grade but to see the best initial College Mathematics Course for you. Math Placement is required for all students. Within one week of registering for orientation, you will receive an invite to a Canvas course with additional information and instructions on completing the test. Please make sure you are checking your BraveMail account regularly.

Complete Health and Medical Forms

Submit your immunization records online via the Patient Portal (Medicat) before orientation. For questions about health requirements, contact us at 910.521.6219.

Send Your Final High School Transcript

Make sure your final high school transcript is sent to the Admissions Office by July 1. If you're an early college student or have college credits, send your college transcript before orientation to ensure accurate course registration.

Family Orientation at UNC Pembroke is designed to help you navigate this transition, support your student's success and prepare for the journey ahead. Attending college is an exciting time, and the experience brings change for both students and families!


Family Orientation offers insights and strategies to help you support their success and adapt to these new dynamics together.


If your student is attending UNC Pembroke as a transfer student, please attend our Transfer Student Orientation.


During your student's online New Student Orientation registration, they can register family members or guests for Family Orientation. Each guest registration requires a nonrefundable $60 fee (maximum of two family members per student). Your presence supports your student(s) as they transition into college life.
