Health insurance is required for most UNC Pembroke students enrolled in six (6) or more on-campus credit hours. If you don't have insurance — or if your current plan doesn't meet minimum requirements — you'll be automatically enrolled in the UNC System Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP), provided through Student Blue from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina.
If you're already covered by another plan (such as a parent's plan), you can waive out of SHIP by submitting proof of coverage by the deadline.
Students enrolled exclusively in Distance Education courses are not eligible for SHIP and are not required to submit a waiver.
