UNCP partners with Ancestry, establishes scholarship program

The University of North Carolina at Pembroke’s Career Center has announced a groundbreaking partnership with Ancestry, the world’s largest for-profit genealogy company. The new collaboration will mean scholarships, paid internships and potential job opportunities for eligible UNCP students.

UNCP announces Chancellor’s, Honors list for Fall 2023

PEMBROKE, NC – The University of North Carolina at Pembroke has released the Chancellor’s list and Honors list for Fall 2023. Chancellor’s List –– To qualify for the Chancellor’s List, a student must maintain a grade point average (GPA) of 3.7 (out of 4.0) while taking at least 12 semester hours; none of the 12 hours may be Pass/Fail.

UNCP, Sandhills Community College, Moore County schools look to expand academic partnerships

Senior leadership from Sandhills Community College (SCC) and Moore County schools explored ways to build on existing academic partnerships with UNC Pembroke during a campus visit on Wednesday. Since 2020, the BraveStep program has created a pathway for SCC students to begin their college career at Sandhills and continue their education at UNCP. Additionally, SCC has long-standing articulation agreements with several UNCP programs, including the RN to BSN program.

UNCP, Beaufort Community College inks pathway to criminal justice degree

UNC Pembroke and Beaufort County Community College (BCCC) recently signed an articulation agreement that will streamline the transition for students interested in furthering their studies in criminal justice. Under the agreement, criminal justice technology students at BCCC who complete their associate degree in applied science will experience a smooth transfer to UNCP to pursue a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. The new pathway reflects the university’s commitment to offer students a high-quality education.

UNCP strengthens partnership with the Institute of World Politics

Peace Ajirotutu's lifelong passion for politics was fueled by an internship with the North Carolina General Assembly as a UNCP student. The Raleigh native graduated last May and has since narrowed her focus to international affairs at the Institute of World Politics (IWP), thanks partly to the prestigious school’s partnership with UNCP. A private graduate school in Washington, D.C., IWP prides itself on empowering the next generation of national security experts.

Local, state and federal officials held a groundbreaking ceremony on January 10 to kick off a $14 million downtown revitalization streetscape project in Pembroke, enhancing connectivity between UNC Pembroke and the Lumbee Tribe’s headquarters.

Anita Stallings named vice chancellor for Advancement

Anita Stallings, a seasoned leader with extensive academic development and alumni relations experience, has been named vice chancellor for Advancement and president of the University Foundation at UNC Pembroke. Stallings has more than 25 years of higher education fundraising experience including several successful multimillion-dollar campaigns at some of the state’s top universities. Chancellor Robin Gary Cummings made the announcement on January 5, 2024, after his recommendation was unanimously approved by the Board of Trustees.

Dr. Tracy Mulvaney named dean of School of Education

Dr. Tracy Mulvaney, a proven leader with three decades of educational experience spanning K-12 to higher education, has been named dean of the School of Education at UNC Pembroke. Dr. Mulvaney’s appointment was approved unanimously by the Board of Trustees Wednesday. She currently serves as an associate professor in the Department of Educational Counseling and Leadership at Monmouth University in New Jersey. She previously served as the assistant dean and acting dean of the School of Education at Monmouth.
