"The biggest thing that stuck out during new student orientation was, everyone you interact with — even the people serving you in the cafe — they’re just so nice."

Pre-Orientation Checklist
Please submit your immunization record online via the Patient Portal (Medicat) before orientation. New incoming students are required to provide a valid record of immunizations. Enrollment immunizations should be obtained before coming to UNCP at a local physician’s office, health department, medical office or urgent care center.
After registering for classes, complete the electronic health form online and accept or waive UNCP’s health insurance coverage. (This is not a requirement for designated online-only program students). Please note the insurance enrollment/waiver process will not be available until 72 hours after you have registered for classes. The immunization record, insurance enrollment/waiver and electronic health form can all be completed online via the Patient Portal (Medicat). If you have any questions about the health requirements, please call 910.521.6219.
Please send an official college transcript before orientation if you received college credit. Please note that your high school transcript is not enough to grant college credit. Additionally, if you have taken any AP, CLEP or IB test, please submit your official test scores to Undergraduate Admissions for evaluation. For information concerning college credit, please contact the Admissions office at 910.521.6262.
If you are a new student and still need to apply for in-state residency through the state-required Residency Determination Service electronic interview, ncresidency.org, please do so as soon as possible. This application will help ensure you receive the correct billing charges from the university. Upon completion, students will receive a Residency Certification Number (RCN). The RCN is an identifier tying your information to your residency application; this number alone does not mean you have received an eligible determination. Please contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at 910.521.6262 or email admissions@uncp.edu with any questions.
Once your residency application has been reviewed, you will receive an email (and
text if you opt-in) from the Residency Determination Service (RDS) regarding the determination
(in-state or out-of-state) or the status, i.e., need more information from you. If
you receive an out-of-state determination and disagree with it, you may request a
reconsideration of your residency decision from RDS up to three times within 90 days.

UNCP requires Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for your account when logging in while on or away from campus. The available second-factor options include the following:
- Microsoft Authenticator mobile app. The Microsoft Authenticator mobile app is recommended as it is the most secure and easy to use.
- Small USB devices can be purchased as an alternative hardware token method.
Learn more about registering or making changes for MFA.
All students are expected to conduct themselves in a responsible and accountable manner. A UNCP student receives no sanctuary from obedience to the law upon enrollment. In addition to the federal, state and local laws that pertain to all citizens, a UNCP student must accept the institutional rules and regulations. The Student Code of Conduct outlines prohibited conduct and assists students in understanding their rights and responsibilities while living and learning in the university community.
In addition, students are important members of the academic community and the UNCP
Academic Honor Code focuses on the essential components of academic honor and integrity.
UNCP students must uphold basic honesty standards and actively encourage others to
respect and maintain those standards.
The Student Code of Conduct and the Academic Honor Code can be located in the UNCP catelog. Please review and familiarize yourself with both codes as they apply to all students, including online, distance education and graduate students.

To complete your FAFSA, you will need:
- List of schools you plan to apply to
- Your FSA ID
- Parent & student social security numbers
- Your driver’s license (if you have one)
- Copy of last years tax returns
- Records of any untaxed income & assets
The Office of Financial Aid strives to educate, assist and advise students and their families through the financial aid process. If you have questions about completing your FAFSA or financial aid, please contact us at 910.521.6255.
