Move-In

Dates & Times

New Incoming Students Thursday, August 14 7 a.m.-1 p.m.
Returning Students Friday, August 15-Sunday, August 17 8 a.m.-2 p.m.

Check your UNCP BraveMail account for an email from UNCP Housing & Residence Life. You will find your specific room assignment, roommate information and what you need to complete prior to move-in for a smooth check-in process.

Check-In Locations

  • All new incoming students will check in at the UC Annex parking lot 16. All returning students will check in at their assigned residential community. This is where you'll receive your room key and any additional move-in instructions.
  • You must complete check-in before moving into your room.

Reminder: Your BravesCard (Student ID) gives you access to your building—but you’ll receive a physical room key at check-in.

Move-In Tips

Make your move-in efficient and eco-friendly with these tips:

  • Box Everything!
Avoid loose items. Pack all belongings into containers or bags for easier transport and unpacking.

  • Use Plastic Bins if Possible
Plastic bins are reusable, stackable, more secure than cardboard and help reduce waste.

  • Label Your Boxes
Include your name and room number on each container to keep your belongings organized and easy to identify.

  • Bring Your BravesCard
You’ll need your Student ID to access your hall or community building.
New Incoming Students: Your BravesCard was issued during orientation.

  • Consider Bringing a Hand Truck
A personal dolly or hand truck is incredibly helpful for move-in and will be useful throughout your time on campus.

What to Expect

Volunteers and directional signs will be present to assist and guide you through the check-in and move-in process. Make sure you know the name of your assigned residence hall so volunteers can guide you to the appropriate check-in location.
Look for the temporary unloading zones near your building. Zones are marked by numbered flags. Once you’ve unloaded all items, you’ll be directed to a nearby parking area. Vehicles may not be left unattended in the unloading zone.

As part of the check-in process, you’ll complete a Room Condition Report to document the state of your room at the time of move-in. This is an important step to ensure accountability and avoid being charged for any pre-existing damage when you move out.

  • Take time to inspect your room thoroughly before unpacking:
    • Look for marks, damage or wear on walls, floors, furniture and fixtures.
    • Test doors, windows, lights and outlets.
    • Make sure all university-provided furniture is present and functional.

More to Know

There’s more to move-in than just unpacking. Find out when your meal plan kicks in, how to register your bike and where to get a parking permit.

All students planning to park on campus must register their vehicle through Campus Police & Public Safety. Designated parking zones are available near each residential community.

  • Parking permits are required at all times.

  • Be sure to park only in your assigned zone to avoid citations.

  • Temporary unloading zones will be available during move-in near residence halls.

  • Parking permits will be available for pick-up at the Traffic Office located in Campus Police & Public Safety.

Register Your Vehicle

Bikes are a great way to get around campus! You're welcome to bring your bicycle, but be sure to bring a lock and secure it to designated bike racks.

  • Bike racks are located near every residential community and around campus buildings.

  • Indoor storage is not permitted in residence hall rooms, stairwells, or hallways.

  • UNCP also offers bike rentals for students who don’t bring their own.

  • All bikes operated and/or parked on campus must be registered with the Traffic Office.
